Decatur Community News: It did happen, and it will happen

For years, I had wanted to visit the Creation Museum and the Ark Encounter, both envisioned and guided into actuality, by the Australian Christian, Ken Ham, through God’s enablement. Having read about it, I had also talked to people here in Decatur who had been and said they enjoyed going. I join them in urging others to make the trip, as it was worth every dollar and every mile!

As it turned out, last week, God again guided my vehicle safely to Lebanon, TN, to visit my son, David, my oldest daughter, Robin, and their families. Robin and I left there Sunday, the 21st, and travelled to Lawrenceburg, IN, to a hotel beside the Ohio River that was about ten minutes away from the museum in Petersburg, Ohio, about 45 minutes away from the Ark in Williamstown, Kentucky!

That morning, the verse at the top of a devotional page for that day was Hebrews 11:7: “By faith Noah, being warned of God of things not seen as yet, moved with fear, prepared an ark to the saving of his house; by the which he condemned the world, and became heir of the righteousness which is by faith.”  What a blessing! The next day we toured the Ark Encounter.

Then on the 23rd, the day we went to the Creation Museum, the reading from “Our Daily Bread” was Psalm 33:6-19, which included, in verse 6, “By the word of the LORD the heavens were made, their starry host by the breath of His mouth.” And in verse 9, “Let all the earth fear the LORD; let all the people of the world revere Him. For He spoke, and it came to be; He commanded, and it stood firm.” I love how God speaks to us through His spirit and His Word!

Some might say, “Why are you so excited about a fairy tale,” depicted in nursery toys as a little boat with animals sticking out all over it? I am excited about it because it is not a legend. It really happened!  The Ark Encounter helped me visualize and understand more about the real ark, the huge wooden structure that Jesus spoke of as being real, when He said, as recorded in Matthew 24:37-41,

For as were the days of Noah, so will be the coming of the Son of Man. For as in those days before the flood they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day when Noah entered the ark, and they were unaware until the flood came and swept them all away, so will be the coming of the Son of Man…Therefore, stay awake, for you do not know on what day your Lord is coming.”

Also, at the Ark Encounter, the exhibits, dioramas, videos, presentations, etc., all displayed and scientifically proved the truth of God’s recent creation of this young earth, which in turn verified the truth of His Word, from Genesis through Revelation. If His Word had really been invalidated by the theories—now presented as facts—of evolution and the “millions of years” they claim it had to have taken for the world and all it includes to form, then the gospel of Jesus Christ would be null and void!

Thankfully, however, when Jesus said, in Matthew 19:4, “Have you not read that He who created them from the beginning made them male and female,” He was verifying as truth Genesis 1:27, “So God created man in His own image, in the image of God He created Him; male and female He created them.”  And in Romans 5:12, we read, “Therefore, just as sin came into the world through one man, and death through sin, and so death spread to all men because all sinned…”

Evolution requires many deaths of animals and “missing links,” over millions of years, before resulting in a true “human being.” Therefore, if evolution is true, the Bible is not. There is no hope. I am so thankful, that the truth of the Bible has been proven, as scientists from all the world, geologists, biologists, anthropologists, archaeologists, and many other types of brilliant scholars, in different groups and locations, have studied and published their findings to disprove the lies of evolutionary scientists, who believe something that takes more faith than to believe in the hope offered to mankind in the Bible!

The Ark in Kentucky is the largest free-standing wooden structure in the world, which is an amazing sight to behold, let alone walk through! The Creation Museum is also amazing in its own way. I have enjoyed many places in this world during my lifetime, but I do believe that these attractions were the best.

Kody and Blair Comans recently told me of a couple other places that lift up the Bible, the gospel and the name of Jesus. The Holy Land Experience in Orlando offers “theatrical Broadway style productions and educational exhibits within an immersive biblical atmosphere for guests of all ages.” They also enjoyed The Sight and Sound Theatre in Branson, where even Jonah and Samson “come to life on a panoramic stage.”

There is another creation museum, the ICR Discovery Center for Science and Earth History, built by the Institute for Creation Research, set to open in Dallas, TX, Sept. 22. Founded in 1970, one of their publications is “Acts and Facts,” a magazine that has helped me much through the years. “Five Global Evidences for a Young Earth,” and “The Truth about Radiometric Dating” are two recent articles. The magazine accounts of the museum lead me to believe it will also be outstanding.

One important reason for attending these places is for the next generation. We all bemoan the statistical fact that, in these last days, as prophecy is being fulfilled, many young people of all denominations are leaving the church. I heard Ken Ham at the Ark Monday afternoon, as he urged us parents and grandparents to teach our children and grandchildren the facts, the truths of apologetics. He declared that many people do not know the facts that prove the Bible is true and Jesus is the only way to salvation.

It is up to us to take action and not just throw up our hands in despair. We must pray, then we must be faithful to do what we have been charged to do in God’s Word, “…contend for the faith that was once for all delivered to the saints.” Jude 1:3.  “Let God be true, and every man a liar.” Romans 3:4. The Bible account of the ark that was built by Noah is true, and Jesus’ words about His return to the earth, in what I believe will be the near future, are also true!

Live for Jesus! He’s coming soon!
