Tyson driver retires after more four decades behind the wheel

By VIRGINIA WELCH,

Walter Moore, feed haul driver for Tyson Feed Mill in Union, retired last Friday after 42 years employment with the company. He was honored with a luncheon and a gift of a Lazy Boy recliner, purchased with donations from

Tyson team members and a nice cash gift left over after the purchase. Walter, you were a good driver and you will be missed.

Morgan Williams had her senior piano recital at Pine Grove Baptist Church this afternoon at 2 p.m. We are proud of you, Morgan. This is her last year of high school, after which she plans to attend East Central Community College at Decatur.

My goddaughter, Summer Smith, will have a baby shower at 2 p.m. April 14 at Gaddis Park in Forest. Remaining items needed are accessory items, such as bath products, diapers and hygiene products.

Summer will also be Baptized next Sunday morning at her home church, Hillsboro Baptist. She was at my house this weekend, and we (and Travis) enjoyed a good visit with Kolby and Jade while she was here.

Last week Redeemer Baptist Church voted to make Bro Tyler our pastor. He has been our interim pastor for a few months. This morning, he and his wife moved their membership to Redeemer. Welcome to our shepherds.

Congratulations to Mrs. Kristy Leach and Mrs. Hailey Hedrick for being selected the most egg-cellent teachers at Union Public Schools. Good work, ladies!

My column for this week is running shorter than usual, because I have had a full week and weekend, and the first three days of this week will find me in my office alone, as Melissa enjoys some well-deserved vacation time. Five a.m. comes awfully early, especially when I will have to be on the clock at 6 a.m. the next three days.

Take care until we meet here again next week.
