MSU Alumni set January meeting

The Newton County Chapter of the Mississippi State Alumni Association will meet 6 p.m. Jan. 31 in the East Central Community College Cafeteria Gold Room. All graduates of Mississippi State University are invited to attend.

College bound workshop sponsored

Young Christian Achievers of L.I.F.E In Unity is hosting its “College Bound “ Life after graduation Workshop to be held at the Newton Library Jan. 30 from 3-5 p.m. All high school seniors, juniors and parents are Invited to attend. Let us assist you in preparing for Life after graduation, before graduation. Speak with college counselors who will also assist with the college application process. Newton Historical Cultural Commission meets Jan. 31

The monthly meeting of the Newton Historical Cultural Commission will be held 1:30 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 31 in the Hoye House. All members, board members and other interested persons are urged to attend.

Union recreation registration underway

Registration for the Summer League is underway. You may register at the Union City Hall until Feb. 22. The cost will be $45 for ages 4-12, and this does not include uniforms. For more information, you may call 601-774-9422.

REPM meeting set for Thursday

The Newton County Retired Education Personnel will meet Thursday, Jan. 24 at 1:30 p.m. at the Decatur United Methodist Church Fellowship Hall. 

The program will be given by Bruce Taylor.

Any Newton County retired education personnel who are interested in joining this organization are also welcome to attend.

Loose Caboose vendor applications available

The Newton Chamber of Commerce will be hosting its 16th Annual Loose Caboose Arts and Crafts Festival on Saturday, March 30, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. in Newton. If you are interested in being a craft or food vendor, applications can be found online at www.newtonchamberms.com or available inside the Newton Chamber’s office in the Newton Depot, 128 S. Main St., Newton, during office hours. Vendor application deadline is March 1.  For more information, call 601-683-2201.
