Police are on the scene of an apparent shooting in Newton this afternoon, according to witnesses on the scene.
Agencies including the Newton Police Department and the Newton County Sheriff's Department have closed a street off West Church Street in Newton to investigate the incident.
Chief Randy Patrick said he will return our phone calls in a little while about the incident. Several businesses in the area have locked down, according to reports.
No information was immediately available about suspects or victims in the incident.
