JACKSON — Gov. Phil Bryant announced today he has appointed Steven S. Kilgore district attorney for the Eighth Judicial District. Kilgore replaces Mark Duncan, who Gov. Bryant recently appointed circuit judge for the Eighth District, which encompasses Leake, Neshoba, Newton and Scott counties.

It wasn’t the freshman season that former Newton County standout Cassidy Blount envisioned at Belhaven. But then again, she didn’t have to watch it from the bench either.

Blount recently completed her first year of collegiate softball at Belhaven, helping the Lady Blazers to an 18-20 record as she started 34 games at catcher.

Services for Mrs. Sue L. Addy were held at 11 a.m. Saturday, June 17 at First Baptist Church of Union with the Rev. David Addy, Dr. Jon Martin, and the Rev. Jerry Lundy officiating. Burial followed at Union City Cemetery. Stephens Funeral Home of Union was in charge of arrangements.
