Newton man charged with kidnapping

A Newton man is facing multiple charges including kidnapping after police responded to a domestic incident last week.

Dendre Ducksworth, 22, was charged with felony kidnapping, taking of a vehicle, petit larceny and simple assault. He was awaiting a bond hearing on Friday.

Union pair commit to play baseball at Copiah-Lincoln CC

Union’s Lane Hanna and Casey Morris each committed to play college baseball at Copiah-Lincoln Community College this past week.

Morris hit .359 for the Yellowjackets this past season while Hanna hit .250.






ECCC women’s soccer gets back on winning track at Hinds

The East Central Community College women’s soccer team halted a three match losing streak Tuesday, Sept. 12, with a 5-0 shutout win at Hinds Community College.

The Lady Warriors, who were struggling to find the net in the three loses scoring only one goal, scored three first-half goals and added two more in the second half of action.
