The Lawrence Community Club met on Monday , April 5, 2021 with five members and two guests present. Our club president, Sudie Merriweather was not able to be with us, however she lined up the guest speakers for the evening and asked our Vice president, Mildred Pace, to step in for the night. Mildred asked Jean Burton to have a prayer and introduced our guests for the evening, Laura Nichols and Sonya Chapman.
They opened a business in September 2020, called Canvas Culture. They provide a place where people can come together and paint and fellowship together. They offer sessions by appointment only right now. They offer paint parties for kids, adults, groups, couples, to-go parties, virtual parties, Birthday parties, etc. A two-hour session has a deposit of $50 and the day of party the cost is $25 per person. They will take the finished project and “accessorize” it for you and post the pictures of your canvas on Social Media. Every project begins with a hand drawn subject, then you decide how you would like to paint it.
They are looking into the possibility of hosting an “Art Camp” during the summer. So if you would like to try your hand at painting and want to gather some friends for fun and fellowship, please contact these ladies at Canvas Culture located in downtown Newton.
We held a short business meeting afterwards, to discuss upcoming meetings and projects we are working on.
The next meeting of the Lawrence Community Club will be May 3 at 6 p.m. Please join us for a time of fellowship.
