Glenda Gardner Mason

Glenda Gardner Mason, 62, passed away Monday, March 30, 2020.

She is survived by sons, Matt Mason and Judd Mason (Jordan); sisters, Wanda Uptain and Brenda Reece; brother, Billy Gardner (Jerri); grandsons, Cameron Mason and Carter Mason; and nieces and nephews.  



Albert Lavern Cox

Albert Lavern Cox, 89, known to many as “Bubba”, entered the gates of Heaven March 29, 2020 after battling illnesses for months. Born in Union, MS, to Iva Mae and Roger L Cox Sr., he moved to Baton Rouge after high school for employment opportunity.


Ovid S. Vickers

A private graveside service was held Saturday, April 4 at Cedarlawn Cemetery in Philadelphia for revered Mississippi folklorist, essayist, poet and teacher Ovid S. Vickers of Decatur, who died March 31, 2020. He was 89.



Billie Joe Matlock

Private family graveside service for Mr. Billie Joe Matlock was held 11 a.m. Monday, March 30, 2020 at Greenland Baptist Church Cemetery. Bro. Randy Walton officiated.

Billie Joe Matlock, 82, of Little Rock, MS passed away March 27, 2020 in his home in the presence of family.


Ona Bell Breland Rivers

Graveside services for Mrs. Ona Bell Breland Rivers were held 2 p.m. Monday, March 23, 2020 at Golden Grove Cemetery with Rev. Mike Skinner and Rev. Steve Robinson officiating. McClain-Hays Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Rivers, 93, of Philadelphia died Saturday, March 21, 2020.

Funeral services for Barbara Collier were held 11 p.m. Friday, March 13, 2020 at Bartholomew M.B. Church. Visitation was held 1-6 p.m. Thursday, March 12



Pamela Amos

Funeral services for Ms. Pamela Amos were held at noon Thursday, March 19, 2020, at Providence M.B. Church in Philadelphia, MS, with Pastor Eric Hill officiating. Burial was at the church cemetery.  Beck Funeral Home of Philadelphia was in charge of arrangements.


Mary Lee Thames

Funeral services for Mrs. Mary Lee Thames were held 11 a.m. Wednesday, March 18, 2020, at Midway M.B. Church in Decatur, MS, with Rev. Larry Reed Sr. officiating. Burial was at the church cemetery.  Beck Funeral Home, Inc. was in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Thames, 84, of Decatur, passed away Tuesday, March 10, 2020.
