Meet the Staff:
Brent Maze, editor/publisher
Brent Maze is the editor and publisher. He oversees the entire operation of the newspaper. He is responsible for ensuring that the newspaper is profitable while also providing the best community news and most effective advertising option in our coverage area. He is a veteran journalist and has won many awards in both Mississippi and Alabama for writing and photography during his career. Brent is originally from Kimberly, Ala., and came to The Newton County Appeal in April 2015. He is a past president of the Newton Chamber of Commerce board of directors, past president of the Newton Rotary Club and serves as vice president of the Friends of Central Mississippi Residential Center board of directors. He attends Decatur United Methodist Church.
Jason Tune, marketing consultant
Jason Tune is a native of Newton, Mississippi, and a graduate of Newton County Academy. He handles your advertising needs for The Newton County Appeal's print, website and special editions.
Heather Collins, classifieds, legal and bookkeeping
Lauren Smith is the bookkeeper. She oversees the classifieds and legal department and keeps track of our accounting and bookkeeping. She also helps design advertisements for the Newton County Appeal.
Marty Morgan, production assistant
Marty Morgan is our production assistant. He helps build ads for clients, assists customers with subscriptions and performs many other duties. He is the husband of Dr. Andrea Morgan, and they couple resides with their two daughters in Newton.
Robbie Robertson, sports editor
Robbie Robertson is the sports editor for the Newton County Appeal. He is a veteran of the newspaper industry, having worked with numerous newspapers including the Meridian Star and the Newton Record.
Henry Finley, delivery/mailroom manager
Henry Finley is the mailroom manager and the delivery driver for The Appeal.
