Ridgeland, Miss.–– Newton County School District Board Member Glenda Barrett has received the Mississippi School Boards Association’s (MSBA) coveted Board Member of the Year Award for 2019, in recognition of her distinguished leadership as a school board member.
Students at Newton Elementary School last week were treated to shiny signs, posters and bright red cases that accompany the Scholastic Book Fair to schools across the country. Throughout the week, students and parents were given the opportunity to stop by the fair, browse the books and help the school district raise funds for the library.

Students at Newton High School got a jump start on their post-grad plans Wednesday filling out college applications, learning about banking and learning about local industries as the school held its first college and career fair in the gymnasium.
The 2020 edition of the Cougar yearbook, “The Way WE See It,” is now available for purchase until Friday, Nov. 22, for $60. Newton County High School students can purchase from Mr. Wall; NCMS students can purchase from Mrs. Little; NCES students can purchase from Mrs. Vincent. Students can also purchase from any Yearbook Staff member.
