Private family graveside service for Mr. Billie Joe Matlock was held 11 a.m. Monday, March 30, 2020 at Greenland Baptist Church Cemetery. Bro. Randy Walton officiated.
Billie Joe Matlock, 82, of Little Rock, MS passed away March 27, 2020 in his home in the presence of family.
He was born Oct. 4, 1937. He was a native of Newton County and a member of Antioch Baptist Church. He was a US Army veteran, welder, millwright and truck driver. He was a Godly man of few words, never complained, and was always ready to lend a helping hand. Papa always said hello even though he was a man of few words and smiled at everyone. He was always friendly. He was a believer in Christ and was a saved man. He loved his family. He was a hard worker and a good provider, always giving and never selfish. He had the biggest prettiest smile and gave the best hugs
He is survived by his loving wife of 35 years, Ruth G. Matlock; daughter, Mona Lisa Sutterfield (Sherman) of Aliceville, Al; son, Joe Matlock Jr., of Carrollton, Al; daughters, Elinda Hagan (David Williams) of Clearwater, FL, Pam Edwards (Jimmy) of Union and Jennifer Dorman (Chuck) of Gulf Breeze, FL; sisters, Dot Williamson (SA) of Flora and Nita Humphreys (Ben) of Little Rock; and a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, and nephews and cousins.
Mr. Matlock was preceded in death by parents, Otho and Madeline Matlock; brothers, Willie Matlock, Johnny Matlock and Gerald Matlock; and son, John Winstead.
Pallbearers were James Smith, Johnny Knochenmuss, Ronnie Estes, Jacob Helm, Chad Stokes, Nathan Griffin, Meagan Edwards, Ronald Arthur and Chad Dorman.
