Shelby, Thames to wed Dec. 28


Mr. and Mrs. Steve Smith of Union announce the engagement of their daughter, Shelby Hannah, to Samuel Sullivan Thames, son of Mr. and Mrs. Clint Barnes of Brandon, Mrs. Wanda Thames and the late Mr. Billy Jackson Thames, junior, of Newton.

The wedding will be held Saturday, the twenty-eighth of December at four o’clock in the afternoon at First United Methodist Church in Philadelphia, Mississippi.

Ms. Smith is the granddaughter of Mr. Harold G. Carleton of Union, the Reverend and Mrs. Rodney Smith of Moselle, and the late Mrs. Joy Carleton of Union.

The bride-elect is a graduate of Union High School and The University of Mississippi with a Master of Science in Communication Sciences and Disorders. Ms. Smith is employed by Choctaw Tribal Schools as a speech-language pathologist.

Mr. Thames is the grandson of Mrs. Betty Thames and the late Mr. Billy Jackson Thames, senior, of Newton. He is also the grandson of the late Doctor and Mrs. Charlie Ray Sinclair of Lexington.

The bridegroom-elect is a graduate of Newton County Academy and East Mississippi Community College. Mr. Thames is employed by Hailey’s Hardware.

A reception will be held at Bridges, The Venue following the ceremony.
