The Union Yellowjackets piled up two more wins last week as they improved to 15-2 on the season.
The Yellowjackets beat Morton 43-29 on Friday night and then beat Bogue Chitto 44-34 on Saturday at Newton.
The Lady Yellowjackets split a pair of games last week as they beat Morton 50-34 and lost 46-40 to Bogue Chitto on Saturday.
Union opened up Division 4-2A play by hosting Scott Central on Tuesday in their only scheduled action of the week. The following week, Union will travel to Lake on Tuesday, Jan. 15 and then travel to Newton on Friday, Jan. 18.
Union boys 44, Bogue Chitto 34
The Yellowjackets picked up another win despite a poor shooting performance against the Bogue Chitto on Saturday at the Newton Invitational.
Union led 13-9 at the end of the first and 21-13 at the end of a low-scoring first half. Bogue Chitto pulled within four in the third period as they outscored Union 12-8 to make the score 29-25 heading to the fourth. Union pulled away in the fourth, outscoring Bogue Chitto 15-9 to take the win.
Jamarcus Jones led Union with nine points while Kenyon Clay and J.T. Vance each had six points apiece.
Union boys 43, Morton 29
The Yellowjackets outscored the Panthers in three out of the four periods to take a 14-point win on Friday night.
Union led 14-7 at end of the first and 20-14 at the half. Union continued to pull away in the second half as they outscored Morton 11-6 in the third and 12-9 in the fourth to take the win.
J.T. Vance led Union with 16 points while Jamarcus Jones had 11 points and P.J. Gage added nine points.
Union girls 50, Morton 34
The Lady Jackets used a big third period to pull away and take a 16-point win over Morton on Friday.
Union led 13-6 at the end of the first and 21-12 at the half. Union then outscored Morton 17-8 in the third to take a 38-20 lead into the fourth.
Ansley Rigby led Union with 16 points while Keirra Russell had 10 points. Kaliyah Temple also had six points for Union.
Bogue Chitto girls 46, Union 40
The Lady Jackets struggled from the field as Bogue Chitto took a six-point win on Saturday at Newton.
Union led 9-8 at the end of the first period but Bogue Chitto used an 11-4 second period to take a 19-13 lead at the half. The Lady Bobcats outscored the Lady Jackets 16-11 in the third to extend the lead to 35-24 heading into the fourth. Union outscored Bogue Chitto 16-11 in the fourth but couldn’t complete the comeback.
Ansley Rigby led Union with 16 points while Kamyia Russell had 12 points. Keirra Russell added six points.
