The Union Yellowjackets finished off a perfect regular season with another win on Thursday night.
This historic win marks the first time in school history that the Union Yellowjackets have finished the regular season undefeated. Under the leadership of Coach Jordan Wren, the Jackets have dominated opponents on the scoreboard. As they prepare for playoff action, the Yellowjackets carry both momentum and history on their side representing a new era of excellence for Union football.
Union rolled up 364 yards of total offense and rolled to a 35-6 win over Pisgah.
Union moves to 10-0 on the season and remains the only undefeated team in Class 3A.
Union coach Jordan Wren said his team played well at timed, despite some key players being out with injuries.
“We played well at times and at times not so well,” Wren said. “We have a lot of potential but are banged up in some areas that can be very detrimental. We have a group of older kids who are capable of fighting through it. We were able to hit some big plays in the passing game and when it mattered we were able to run the football.”
Union took an early lead as Quinn Harris scored on a 1-yard touchdown run. The PAT failed and Union led 6-0.
The Yellowjackets then hit a big play as Myilan Moore connected with Mooney Harris on a 54-yard touchdown pass. Moore then ran in the two-point conversion and Union led 14-0 at the half.
Moore then capped off the scoring in the first half with a 1-yard run. The PAT failed and Union led 20-0 at the half.
“We gave ups some big runs on defense but figured out how to get them off the field,” Wren said. “We’ve got to tackle better and keep from giving up the big plays on defense. That will be a challenge this week. We will have to be better on defense and have to be sharper as a team.
Union continued to extend the lead in the second half when Moore hit Moonie Harris on a 33-yard touchdown pass. Moore then hit Garrett Norton on the two-point conversion as Union led 28-0.
Quinn Harris finished off the scoring for Union with a 7-yard run. Sawyer Robinson hit the PAT and Union led 35-0.
Pisgah added a late score for the final margin of victory.
