Newton Basketball: Lady Tigers Win District Tournament Championship

After a rough start to the season, the Newton Lady Tigers are playing their best basketball heading to the playoffs.

The Lady Tigers won both games last week in the district 5-2A tournament, beating Pelahatchie 61-23 in the semifinals and then beat Lake 41-34 in the finals to claim another district championship.

Newton Baskteball: Lady Tigers End Regular Season Undefeated in District Play

The Newton Lady Tigers finished their run through district play with two more wins this past week.

The Lady Tigers beat Lake 46-23 on Tuesday and then beat Scott Central 41-35 to finish unbeaten in district play and win the regular season.

The Newton Lady Tigers picked up another win last week as they pounded Pelahatchie.

The Lady Tigers got a big game out of Jamiya Jones, who pumped in 37 points to take a 60-38 win over the Lady Chiefs.

The Tigers fell 81-51 to the Chiefs in the boys game.
