The Union Yellowjackets remained as the only unbeaten team in the area last week with three wins. Here’s a rundown of area action last week.

The Yellowjackets picked up three wins last week with two run-rule wins over Forest and a big one-run win over highly regarded Clarkdale.

Union Board of Aldermen: Officials Discuss Hospital Demolition, Police Hire, and City Projects

The Union Board of Alderman met on Tuesday, March 3rd, 2026, at City Hall. During the meeting, the status of the old Laird Hospital at 218 Peachtree Street, owned by Marcus Knight, was brought up. Knight had hired a private company to demolish the building. The demolition started on February 17 but was stopped shortly afterwards.

Lake High School: Hornets Powerlifting Win Class 2A South State

The Lake High School Boys Powerlifting Team powered their way to a Class 2A South State Championship last week at Pelahatchie High School. Leading the way with individual weight class titles were JJ Green (123 lb.), Johnovan Hawkins (148 lb.), Logan Stroud (220 lb.), Carter Callahan (242 lb.), and Josh Posey (275 lb.).
