NCA gets first two victories of new season
After starting the season with four straight losses, the Newton County Academy Generals reeled off two straight wins last week.
The Generals took a big 9-3 win over East Rankin on Tuesday and then hammered Kemper Academy 15-0 on Saturday.
After playing game with win Discovery Christian Tuesday, NCA (2-4) returns to Decatur at 6:30 p.m. Thursday. NCA is scheduled to host Leake Academy at 6:30 p.m. Friday to round out the week.

Hitting: Jackson Bunyard was 3-for-4 with a double and three RBIs while Vitaly Ferguson was 3-for-4. Steven Duke was 2-for-3 with two doubles and an RBI while Logan Heidelberg was 2-for-3 with a double. Taylor Burn had a home run, two runs scored and two RBIs.
Pitching: Duke started on the mound and pitched 6 1/3 innings, giving up three runs on six hits and two walks while striking out six. Marshall Wright came in and pitched 2/3 innings of relief and struck out one.

Hitting: Ty Thrash was 3-for-3 with three runs scored and three RBIs while Taylor Burt had a three-run home run. Marshall Wright doubled and scored two runs while Slayden Hollingsworth doubled and drove in a run. Logan Heidelberg singled, scored three runs and had two RBIs. Steven Duke also singled and scored three runs for the Generals. The Generals took advantage of six walks and two hit batters.
Pitching: Jackson Bunyard was near perfect in three innings, allowing just one walk while striking out six.
