The Lake Hornets won three out of four games this past week.
After a 6-2 loss to Taylorsville on Thursday, Lake swept Newton in a doubleheader on Friday, beating the Tigers 15-0 and 12-0. Lake then finished the week with a 13-2 win over Sebastopol on Saturday.
Lake will return to play on Monday as they travel to Pisgah. On Tuesday, Lake will travel to Philadelphia and then host the Tornadoes on Friday. They will then travel to Nanih Waiya on Saturday.
Taylorsville 6, Lake 2
The Tartars used a pair of three-run innings to take a four-run win over the Hornets on Thursday.
Taylorsville scored three in the first and second innings while Lake scored one in the fourth and seventh.
Lake only had two hits on singles by Aiden Alford and Riley Bell.
Jacob Lanier started and pitched five innings, giving up six runs on nine hits and one walk while striking out six. JD Gibson pitched the last inning and struck out two.
Lake 15, Newton 0
The Hornets jumped out to an early lead and took a three-inning, run-rule win on Friday to sweep a doubleheader.
Lake scored nine in the first, one in the second and three in the fifth.
Lake outhit Newton 13-1 in the contest. Brady McGee was 2-for-2 with two doubles. Riley Bell and Will McGee each singled and drove in two runs. JD Gibson scored three runs while Jacob Lanier scored two run.
Aiden Alford started on the mound and pitched all three innings, giving up just one hit and one walk while striking out five.
Lake 12, Newton 0
The Hornets scored 10 runs in the first and only gave up one hit in a run-rule win on Friday.
Lake scored 10 in the first and two in the third.
Lake had nine hits as Jacob Lanier was 3-for-3 with two runs scored and two RBIs. Riley Bell was 2-for-2 with a double while Brady McGee homered, scored twice and drove in two runs. Jalen Gray walked twice, stole three bases, scored three runs and drove in two runs.
Riley Bell started on the mound and pitched all four innings, giving up one hit while striking out nine.
Lake 13, Sebastopol 2
The Hornets scored 10 runs in the fourth and pulled away to take a run-rule win over the Bobcats on Saturday.
Lake scored one in the first while each team scored two in the third inning. Lake then scored 10 in the fourth.
Each team had eight hits while the Hornets drew 11 walks. Aiden Alford was 3-for-4 with a double, three runs scored and four RBIs. Riley Bell and Kenny Ray Hanna each singled, walked three times and drove in two runs.
Brady McGee started on the mound and pitched all five innings for Lake, giving up two unearned runs on eight hits while striking out 10.
Sebastopol scattered out eight hits as Morgan Harper was 2-for-2. Jake Kimble and Luke McGarrity each signed and scored.
Jacob Williams started on the mound and gave up three runs on three hits and five walks. Makarious Michaels pitched one inning and gave up nine runs, only two earned, on four hits and three walks while striking out two. Cy Mooney pitched the last 2/3 of an inning and gave up one run on one hit while walking three.
