The Lake basketball teams split a pair or division 5-2A games this past week.
Lake swept Clarkdale as the Lady Hornets won 61-6 and the Hornets followed with an 80-51 blowout win.
Both Lake teams lost to Newton as the Hornets fell 58-38 and the Lady Hornets lost 39-18.
Lake was scheduled to return to play on Tuesday as they host Scott Central and will then take on Bay Springs on Friday.
Lake girls 61, Clarkdale 6
The Lady Hornets let the Lady Bulldogs scoreless in the first half and cruised to a 55-point win in division play.
Lake was dominant in the first half and outscored Clarkdale 29-0 in the first period and 19-0 in the second period for a 48-0 halftime lead. Lake then outscored Clarkdale 7-2 in the third period and 6-4 in the fourth for the final margin.
Lake had four players score in double figures, led by Kyunnia Pinkston, who had 14 points. Beautiful Carr had 13 points while Jaylyn Grant and Anna Towner both had 10 points apiece. Taylor Clark also chipped in six points for the Lady Hornets.
Lake boys 80, Clarkdale 51
The Hornets used a big second half to take a 29-point win over the Bulldogs in division play this week.
Lake led 19-11 at the end of the first period before Clarkdale outscored the Hornets 21-13 in the second period to tie the game at 32 apiece going to the second half. Lake then got rolling in the second half and outscored Newton 18-9 in the third and 30-8 in the fourth to take the win.
Te’Kenyon Fountain led Lake with 22 points while Ny’Zavion McClendon also had 17 points. Jhaqwon Slack had 15 points while Kyran Fortune also had 10 points.
