The Newton County Academy girls picked up three more wins and stayed unbeaten in district play last week.
The Lady Generals improved to 14-3 as they beat Laurel Christian 54-40 on Monday, Laurel Christian 54-40 on Tuesday and Sylva Bay 47-25 on Friday.
The Generals picked up only one win last week with a 35-33 win over Discovery Christian while they suffered losses to Sylva Bay 44-11 and Laurel Christian 61-24.
NCA will return to play this week with a pair of district games as they host Calhoun on Tuesday and will play at Kemper on Friday.
NCA girls 47, Sylva Bay 25
The Lady Generals dominated the middle two periods and took a 22-point win over the rival Lady Saints.
NCA led 8-5 at the end of the first and then outscored Sylva Bay 20-5 in the second to lead 28-10 at the half. NCA continued to extend its lead and outscored Sylva Bay 19-4 and led 47-14 going to the fourth. Sylva Bay took the fourth period 11-0 for the final margin.
Lilly Hollingsworth led NCA with 14 points while Cayden Alexander had 12 points and Macie Windham had 11 points. Madline Vance had five points while Emme Reese had 12 rebounds and five steals.
Sylva Bay boys 44, NCA 11
The Generals struggled to score at the Saints took a 33-point win in district play.
Sylva Bay led 7-2 at the end of the first and then outscored NCA 19-0 in the second to lead 26-2 at the half. Sylva Bay then outscored NCA 11-6 in the third and 7-3 in the fourth.
Trace Evans led the Generals with six points.
NCA girls 50, Discovery Christian 11
The Lady Generals had little trouble with Discovery and took a 39-point win.
NCA started fast and led 19-3 at the end of the first and outscored Discovery 9-4 in the second and led 28-7 at the half. NCA then outscored Discovery 16-2 in the third and led 44-9 going to the fourth. NCA took the fourth period 6-2 for the final margin.
Cayden Alexander led NCA with 16 points while Emme Reese had six points. Lilly Hollingsworth and Madline Vance each had five points apiece.
NCA boys 35, Discovery Christian 33
The Generals used big third period and held on to take a two-point win over Discovery last week.
Discovery led 11-5 at the end of the first and each team scored seven points in the second period for an 18-12 lead at the half. NCA then outscored Discovery 15-4 in the third to take a 25-22 lead into the fourth. Discovery then took the fourth 11-10 in the fourth for the final margin.
Noah Agent led NCA with 14 points while Jackson Bunyard had eight points.
NCA girls 54, Laurel Christian 40
The Lady Generals dominated the first three periods and took a 14-point win.
NCA started fast and led 22-12 at the end of the first and then outscored Laurel 11-7 in the second and led 33-19 at the half. NCA then outscored Laurel 15-6 in the third and led 48-25 going to the fourth. Laurel took the fourth period 15-6 for the final margin.
Cayden Alexander led NCA with 20 points while Madline Vance had 13 points and Macie Woodham added eight points.
Laurel Christian boys 61, NCA 24
Laurel outscored NCA in every period and took a 37-point win over the Generals.
Laurel outscored NCA 11-3 in the first and 15-11 in the second to lead 26-14 at the half. Laurel then outscored NCA 19-8 in the third and 16-2 in the fourth for the final margin.
Jackson Bunyard led NCA with 13 points while Tyler Thrash had seven points.
