The Newton County Academy girls picked up three wins last week on the hardwoods.
The Lady Generals beat Laurel Christian 46-42 on Monday and then beat rival Sylva Bay 36-27 on Tuesday. They finished the week off on Thursday as they beat Enterprise 42-29.
The Generals lost two of three games on the week. After a 50-10 win over Laurel Christian on Monday, they lost 41-14 to Sylva Bay and 80-27 to Enterprise.
NCA will be off for the Thanksgiving break and return to action on Tuesday, Dec. 2 as they play at Grace Christian in Louisville. They will then play at Kemper Academy on Friday, Dec. 5.
NCA girls 46, Laurel Christian 42
The Lady Generals build an early lead and held on to take a tight four-point win over the Lady Lions on Monday.
NCA jumped out to a 13-8 lead in the first period before Laurel took the second period 12-9 to cut the lead to 22-20 at the half. The Lady Generals then outscored the Lady Lions 13-10 in the third period to extend its lead to 35-30 going to the fourth. Laurel took the fourth period 12-11 but NCA held on for the win.
NCA used a balanced scoring attack as Kelsey Tibbets led the Lady Generals with 10 points. Adriane Luke had nine points while Jaimsey Reese had seven points. Jamie Stamper and Maggie Vance each chipped in six points.
NCA boys 50, Laurel Christian 10
The Generals started fast and rolled to a 40-point win over the Lions on Monday.
NCA jumped out to a 20-2 lead in the first period and led 27-8 at the half. Leake then outscored NCA 16-1 in the third and 7-1 in the fourth.
Cohen Rule led NCA with 12 points while Cooper Robinson had seven points.
NCA girls 36, Sylva Bay 27
The Lady Generals jumped out to an early lead and cruised to a nine-point win on Tuesday.
NCA jumped out to a 16-4 lead while NCA took the second period 8-6 to cut the lead to 22-12 at the half. Sylva Bay took the third period 7-5 while NCA took the fourth 9-8 for the final margin.
Jesslyn Mott, Adriane Luke and Kelsey Tibbetts each had nine points apiece while Maggie Vance had six points.
Sylva Bay boys 41, NCA 14
The Generals struggled from the field as the Saints took a 26-point win.
Sylva Bay led 11-1 at the end of the first period while NCA outscored the Saints 8-5 in the second to cut the lead to 16-9 at the half. The Saints pulled away in the second half, outscoring NCA 10-3 in the third and 15-2 in the fourth to take the win.
Ethan Woodham led NCA with four points.
NCA girls 42, Enterprise 29
The Lady Generals outscored the Lady Bulldogs in every period to take a 13-point win on Thursday.
NCA outscored Enterprise 12-7 in the first and 9-7 in the second and led 21-14 at the half. NCA continued to extend its lead in the second half and outscored Enterprise 8-7 in the third and 13-8 in the fourth to take the win.
Adriane Luke had a big night for NCA as she pumped in 26 points while Kelsey Tibbetts had nine points.
Enterprise boys 80, NCA 27
The Bulldogs had huge second and third periods as they rolled to a 53-point win over the Generals on Thursday.
Enterprise led 18-11 at the end of the first but then outscored NCA 29-6 in the second to lead 47-17 at the half. Enterprise continued to extend its lead in the third, outscoring NCA 29-5 to lead 76-22 going to the fourth. NCA took the fourth period 5-4 to take the win.
Cohen Rule led NCA with nine points.
