The Newton County Academy Lady Generals picked up two wins last week in convincing fashion.
The Lady Generals beat the Meridian Lady Flyers 60-36 on Tuesday and then beat Russell Christian 50-32 on Thursday.
NCA has a full week ahead as they will host Kemper on Tuesday and travel to Grace Christian in Louisville on Thursday. They will then play at Christ Covenant on Friday to finish out the week and then be off for the Thanksgiving break.
NCA girls 60, Meridian Flyers 36
The Lady Generals dominated the first three periods and cruised to a 24-point win over the Lady Flyers.
NCA dominated the first half as they outscored Meridian 14-5 in the first and 14-6 in the second to lead 28-11 at the half. NCA continued to pull away, outscoring Meridian 19-9 in the third to extend the lead to 47-20 going to the fourth. Meridian took the fourth period 16-13 for the final margin.
Adriane Luke led NCA with 21 points while Sydnee Cosgrove had 14 points.
NCA girls 50, Russell Christian 32
The Lady Generals pulled away in the middle periods and took an 18-point win over the Lady Warriors on Thursday.
NCA led 13-10 at the end of the first period and then outscored Russell 17-8 in the second period to lead 30-18 at the half. NCA then outscored Russell 12-2 in the third to extend the lead to 42-20 going to the fourth. Russell took the fourth period 12-8 for the final margin.
Adriane Luke led NCA with 13 points while Jaimsey Reese, Piper Collins and Addison Mathis each had seven points.
