The Lake basketball team finished out the regular season this past week with a pair of division contests.
The Lake girls won both games by double digits as they beat Philadelphia 69-45 on Tuesday and Nanih Waiya 60-28.
The Lake boys split a pair of games as they lost 56-53 to Philadelphia in overtime and then finished with a 55-28 win over Nanih Waiya.
The Lake girls are the No. 2 seed in this week’s 5-2A Tournament and will Newton on Thursday at 4 p.m.
The Lake boys move to the Division 5-2A Tournament and will play on Tuesday at 7:30 p.m. with the winner advancing to play No. 1 seed Kemper County on Thursday at 8:30 p.m.
Lake girls 69, Philadelphia 45
Laneisha Palm led Lake with 20 points, 10 rebounds, five steals and five assists while Brooke Harris had 15 points, 13 rebounds, seven blocks and five assists. Kellis Odom had 14 points, four steals and three rebounds while Alicia Oliphant had eight points, three rebounds and two steals. Taylor Clark had seven points and five rebounds while Lyric Lay had five points and five assists.
Philadelphia boys 56, Lake 53
The Tornadoes needed overtime to take a three-point win over the Hornets on Tuesday.
Philly held a slim 9-8 lead at the end of the first but Lake then outscored the Tornadoes 10-5 in the second to lead 18-14 at the half. Philly took the third period 10-9 to cut the lead to 27-24 going to the fourth. In a fast-moving fourth period, Philadelphia outscored Lake 22-19 to send the game into overtime. Philly then outscored Lake 10-7 in overtime.
Curly Robinson led Lake with 18 points while Cameron Hunt had 11 points. O’Darius Johnson had nine points while Caden Moss added seven points.
Lake girls 60, Nanih Waiya 28
The Lady Hornets had little trouble with the Lady Warriors as they took a 32-point win to wrap of division play and finish the regular season with a 17-9 record.
Laneisha Palm led Lake with 17 points, six steals and five rebounds while Kellis Odom had nine points, six steals and three assists. Anyia Hunt had eight points and six rebounds while Alicia Oliphant had eight points. Brooke Harris had six points, five rebounds and four blocks.
Lake boys 55, Nanih Waiya 28
The Hornets pulled away in the second half and took a 27-point win over the Warriors.
Lake led 12-7 at the end of the first period but Nanih Waiya outscored the Hornets 10-7 in the second to cut the lead to 19-17 at the half. But the Hornets got rolling in the third and outscored the Warriors 19-4 to take a 38-21 lead into the fourth. Lake continued to extend its lead in the fourth and outscored Nanih Waiya 17-7 for the final margin.
Curly Robinson led Lake with 22 points while Cameron Hunt had 16 points and Caden Moss added 11 points.
