The Newton boys took a pair of wins this past week.
Newton plans return to play this week with a pair of home games. They were scheduled to host Lake on Tuesday and Bay Springs on Friday for a key region showdown.
Newton boys 71, Clarkdale 29
Tavion White led Newton (13-5, 2-1) with 17 points while Daylen Ware and De’Traun Brown each had 12 points. Emmanuel Robinson had 10 points while Jacoby Jones had six points. Chantel Moore also chipped in five points.
Newton girls 59, Clarkdale 21
Sommer Jordan led Newton (13-4, 2-1) with 16 points while Jamiya Jones had 13 points. Erin Ware had 10 points while Sasha Harris had seven points.
Newton boys 62, Mendenhall 59
Newton rallied and outscored Mendenhall 24-13 in the fourth to take the win.
Daylen Chapman led Newton with 16 points while De’Traun Brown and Tavion White each had 12 points apiece. Jacoby Jones had nine points while Emmanuel Robinson had six points.
Quitman girls 58, Newton 43
Erin Ware led Newton with 12 points while Jamiya Jones had 11 points and Sommer Jordan added eight points.
