The Sebastopol Lady Bobcats had a shot at a division championship but dropped two games to Union last week, falling 2-1 and 7-1.
Meanwhile, the Sebastopol baseball team lost three games last week, including two games to Union as they fell 12-2 and 8-6.
The Lady Bobcats move to 20-4 on the season and will host Taylorsville on Tuesday to end the regular season.
The Bobcats fall to 15-8 on the season and will play Forest on Tuesday to end the regular season.
Softball
It was an up-and-down week for the Lady Bobcats as they lost two key division games to Union, 2-1 and 7-1. But they bounced back and beat Southeast Lauderdale 16-3 and Columbia 17-15 to finish out the week.
On Tuesday, Sebastopol lost 2-1 to Union and had just three hits. Payton Chamblee doubled while Mattie Byram and Cyrish Magculang each singled. Savannah Crout started in the circle and pitched all seven innings, giving up two runs on seven hits while striking out four.
On Thursday, the Lady Bobcats lost 7-1 to Union and finish third in district play. Sebastopol scored one in the first while Union finished with four in the sixth. The Lady Bobcats had six hits but committed five errors. Marlee Smith singled and scored a run while Savannah Crout, Emma Smith, Jaylee Coleman, Kadence Robertson and Cyrish Magculang each singled. Crout pitched all six innings and gave up seven runs with only one earned on eight hits and four walks while striking out six.
On Saturday, Sebastopol took a pair of wins and opened with a 16-3 win over Southeast Lauderdale. The Lady Bobcats scored 10 in the first inning and five in the second. Sebastopol had 14 hits as Marlee Smith was 3-for-3 and scored three runs. Hannah Boleware was 2-for-4 with a home run and five RBIs while Savannah Crout was 2-for-3 with a triple and three RBIs. Emma Smith was 2-for-3 while Kadence Robertson was 2-for-3 with a triple and two runs scored. Cyrish Magculang also tripled and scored two runs. Bryleigh Myers pitched all four innings for Sebastopol, giving up three runs on three hits while striking out three.
The Lady Bobcats finished the week with a 17-15 win over Columbia. Sebastopol scored seven in the second, three in the third, six in the fifth and one in the sixth to take the win. Sebastopol had 11 hits and took advantage of six errors and six hits. Savannah Crout was 3-for-5 with a double and two runs scored while Hannah Boleware was 2-for-5 with three RBIs. Jaylee Coleman was 2-for-5 with two RBIs while Mattie Byram was 2-for-4 with a double. Marlee Smith tripled and scored four runs. Kadence Robertson started in the circle and pitched 4 2/3 innings and gave up 13 runs on 13 hits while Crout pitched the last 2 1/3 innings and gave up two runs on three hits.
Baseball
The Bobcats lost all three games last week as they dropped both division games to Union.
On Tuesday, Union took a 12-2 win over the Bobcats. Sebastopol scored two in the second for their only runs as they had just four hits. Colby Dooley doubled and drove in two runs while Harrison Peebles, Lowry Moore and Nate Johnson each singled. Noah Atkinson started and pitched four innings and gave up eight runs on seven hits and four walks while Ike Strickland pitched the last inning and gave up four runs on three hits.
On Friday, Union took an 8-6 win. Sebastopol outhit Union 10-5 but committed four errors and walked seven. Harrison Peebles was 2-for-3 with a double and two RBIs while Connally Gaddis was 2-for-4 with two runs scored. Noah Atkinson also had two singles. Colby Dooley started on the mound and pitched 4 1/3 innings and gave up five runs on four hits and five walks while striking out six. Ty Skinner pitched one inning while Ike Strickland pitched the last 2/3 of an inning.
The Bobcats finished the week with a 16-3 loss to Puckett as the Wolves scored 10 runs in the sixth to take the run-rule win. Sebastopol had just six hits as Colby Dooley doubled. Luke McGarrity, Connally Gaddis, Lowry Moore, Noah Atkinson and Mayes McDill each singled. Ty Skinner started and pitched five innings and gave up six runs on eight hits while Gaddis pitched 2/3 of an inning and gave up 10 runs on five hits and four walks.
