A number of City of Newton water customers are currently under a Boil Water Notice after two major water line leaks over just as many days.
Residents and businesses north of Interstate 20 in Ward 4, along with customers in Wards 1 and 2, are currently feeling the effects of the busted water lines that left them without water service for a few hours.
Customers along Highway 15 near Interstate 20 in Ward 4 had their water service temporarily disconnected on Saturday as city workers labored to repair a damaged water line. After repairing the leak, the city advised customers north of Interstate 20 that were affected by the leak to boil their water until further notice.
On Monday, city water customers in Wards 1 and 2 started their by day discovering their water services were temporarily interrupted due to a significant main line water leak. After the line was repaired, the city put those affected by the outage on a boil water notice until further notice, as well.
City officials expect to get results of water testing after both line repairs this week.
