After two previous losses, Hardy secures the belt in his third attempt.
Aurelius Hardy of Lawrence emerged victorious, securing the Heavyweight Champion Belt at the Bout Time Brawlin’ Night of Champions Match held recently in Louisville, Mississippi. Hardy, 24, trains under Desmond Jones at Blue Line Boxing in Philadelphia, Mississippi.
The win marks a significant milestone for Hardy, who shared that his journey toward the championship was not without challenges. After two previous defeats, Hardy entered the Night of Champions match determined, ultimately capturing the title on his third attempt. "You know what they say—third time’s the charm," Hardy said.
Hardy, a Newton High School graduate and former football player at Alcorn State, credits his boxing success to hard work and perseverance. He attributes much of his growth to Desmond Jones, who has been training him since January. "Desmond Jones took me under his wing and showed me everything I know," Hardy remarked.
The young champion, who earned his nickname "AR" for his powerful punches, is now focusing on the amateur level, aiming to turn professional in the future. He is already preparing for his next challenge—a December rematch against opponent Allen Scarbrough.
Aurelius is the son of Shanta Hardy and Dennis Hardy.
