Water Valley Lady Blue Devils (5-11) at Sebastopol Lady Bobcats (18-8), 11 a.m.

Newton County Academy celebrated its homecoming with a win over Deer Creek School Friday night. Prior to the game, Addie Bergeron was crowned the 2023 Homecoming Queen.

Fire call at Taco Bell-KFC

First responders were called to the KFC/Taco Bell in Newton Thursday afternoon due to a structure fire call.

According to several officials on the scene, the air conditioning unit caused the smoke to come into the building. Apparently, a fan motor broke a belt causing smoke and pulled it into the building.
