State Sen. Tyler McCaughn has entered a bill that would make the Newton Municipal School District Board of Trustees elected at the request of the City of Newton.
Currently, the Newton Board of Mayor and Aldermen appoint all five trustees, three inside the city limits and two outside, to five-year terms with one rolling off every year.
