Chancellor Robert M. Logan Jr. of Newton was recognized at the Mississippi Bar Convention for 50 years as a member of the Bar.
Seven 50-year members of the Bar attended the Bar Convention on July 11 in Destin, Fla. Others recognized for 50 years in the practice of law included Richard S. Bush of Marksville, La.; Roy D. Campbell III, formerly of Jackson; B.W. Curry III of Hattiesburg; Hiram Eastland Jr. of Greenwood; Michael McElhaney Jr. of Pascagoula; and Ronnie Walton of Meridian. Campbell, former President of the Mississippi Bar, was honored with the Bar’s Lifetime Achievement Award.
Judge Logan was admitted to the Mississippi Bar in 1975 after earning his Juris Doctor from the University of Mississippi School of Law. He practiced law for 43 years before being elected chancellor of the Second Chancery Court of Newton, Jasper and Scott counties. He previously served as attorney for the city of Newton, the Newton Municipal School District and East Central Community College and maintained a private law practice. He was sworn in as chancellor on Jan. 4, 2019.
