The Generals will kick off the Class 2A playoffs as they host Christian Collegiate on Friday in a second-round matchup.
CCA is 8-2 on the season but has won six straight. NCA beat the Bulldogs in week two 26-30. Their other loss is to Wilkinson County Christian (18-14). They have wins over Columbus (62-24), Kemper (60-6), Discovery (66-6), Hillcrest (44-12), Ben’s Ford (50-6), Porter’s Chapel (36-13) and Prentiss (68-50) in the regular season. They beat Prairie View (63-12) last week in the first round of the playoffs.
“They haven’t changed a whole lot since we played them the first time,” NCA coach Stevie Nelson said. “They get the ball to their playmakers and use their speed. I think the biggest concern is we will be playing on a regulation-sized field. Our field is still a regulation-sized field so it’s a lot more space to defend. If we will do what we are supposed to do, I think we will be fine.”
