The Liberty Community Club met on June 12th for our ice cream supper with Mike and Wanda serving the delicious meal. Katherine Goodin and Treyton Harris led the Pledge of Allegiance and Gerald Goodin opened with prayer.
Mike introduced Joey Hand, candidate for Supervisor 5. Joey works as Fire Battalion Chief in Meridian. He feels we are working with the best we have and hopes to add kid’s programs, VA affairs, and work with the Supervisors to keep Newton County growing.
Mike then introduced Rebecca Burton, candidate for coroner. She discussed the duties of coroner and her 250 hours of classroom training. She feels that her experience as deputy coroner for several years with Mr. Shoemaker gave her the ability to perform her duties on the first day in the office.
We had Joey and Ginger Hand and Brad and Rebecca Burton as guests, with 20 members present. Next month on Monday, July 10 at 6 p.m., we will have our potluck supper with Peter Russell, candidate for tax assessor, as our speaker.
