The Liberty Community Club met on July 10th at the club house, with Mike Dearing presiding. The Pledge of Allegiance was led by Katherine Goodin and prayer by Gerald Goodin. The delicious potluck meal was served by Mike and Wanda. Ruby Boutwell presented the devotion from Galatians 5:25-are you running low on fuel? We can run low on spiritual fuel if we do not continue our daily devotions, attend church regularly, and read our Bible daily. Our prayer requests include Mark Kilgore and Stuart Tune.
Mike introduced Peter Russell, candidate for Newton County tax assessor. Peter has been a public servant for over 25 years, working in Fire Services, emergency management, 911 communications, Emergency Medical Services, and as Certified Property Tax Appraiser/Consultant throughout the State of Mississippi. He has obtained many certifications including his MAE (Mississippi Assessment Evaluator). This is the highest certification offered through the Mississippi Education and Certification Advisory Board. Peter has worked with several Tax Assessors throughout the state with success. He stated that he plans to serve Newton County with the highest respect and integrity.
We had 22 members present with 3 guests including Peter Russell, Paxton Russell, and Harley Moreland. We collected large bottles of shampoo and body soap for the residents of Bedford Care. Next month our hostesses are Amy Norman and Korby Mann and they will be having a sandwich supper. Our speaker will be Charles Godwin, District 4 supervisor, who is running for reelection. We welcome you and your friends and neighbors to our next meeting on Monday, August 14th at 6 pm.
