The Liberty Community Club met on March 13 with Mike Dearing, president. Katherine Goodin led the group in The Pledge of Allegiance and Abraham McKenzie led in prayer. A potluck supper was served by Ray Boutwell and Ruby Boutwell.
Mike introduced our speaker, Abraham McKenzie, deputy in Jones County and candidate for sheriff in Clarke County. He will be installed as pastor at Greenhill Baptist Church in Shubuta on March 19th. Abraham grew up in Mississippi with his father serving in Vietnam. He grew up with four older sisters and worked with his father after school. Abraham’s message to us was how important our walk with God is and so important for our life. We are to encourage others and pray for our friends and neighbors, ask God for forgiveness, and study God’s Word. We loved listening to Abraham’s story for us.
Ruby gave our devotion from I Samuel 25:23 on humility is Christ-like. The Lord will help us make conversation. Our prayer requests include Mark Kilgore, Judson Bounds, Peggy Gaines, Keith Gibbon, Gene Boutwell, Carol Stamper, and the family of Joe Martin Kennedy.
There were 22 members present and our 2 guests, Abraham and Deitra McKenzie. Next month our hostesses will be Peggy Gaines and Korby Mann for a salad supper. Our guest speakers will be Butch Meaders and Ben Kelly.
