This past Saturday, Union Public School District held their annual Beauty and Beau pageant. The elementary, middle, and high school all held their pageant Saturday. Beauty pageants began in the 1850’s with photographic pageants that were posted in newspapers. Beauty pageants like we know it began in the 1880’s. This year, Union added several new categories to the pageant. In pre-k and kindergarten, the winners were: most photogenic, Tidy Griffin and Tucker Devine; pretties hair, Layla Allen; overall stage presence, Tucker Devine; prettiest eyes, Brenlynn Quick; best smile, Roper Rash; overall fashion, Penelope Purvis; audience choice, Tucker Devine and Penelope Purvis; beauties, Olivia Hedrick, Tydi Griffin, Isla Wilson, and Layla Allen; beaus, Tucker Devin; most handsome, Roper Rash; and most beautiful, Penelope Purvis. In the first and second grade, the winners were: most photogenic, Livi Wren and Vance Hayes; prettiest hair, Jenna Gainey; prettiest eyes, Joanie Shoemaker; best smile, Dean Watkins; overall stage presence, Vance Hayes; audience choice, Vance Hayes and Annlee Thomas; beauties, Livi Wren, Camilla Wilson, Jenna Gainey, and Preslee Robinson; Beaus, Dean Watkins; most handsome, Vance Hayes; and most beautiful, Sadie Kate Rash. The third and fourth grade winners were: most photogenic, Colbie Cain; prettiest hair, Remi Dickerson; overall fashion, Josylnn Smith; audience choice, Levi Warren and Finley Driskell; beauties, Finley Driskell, Baylee Ryals, Abilene McCoy, and Josylyn Smith; Beaus, Bryant Bozeman; most handsome, Levi Warren; and most beautiful, Remi Dickerson. The fifth and sixth grade winners were: most photogenic, Cheyann Freeman; prettiest hair, Cheyanne Bishop; prettiest eyes, Sophie Le; overall fashion, Shelby Roberts; audience choice, Amanda Gibson; beauties, Cheyann Freeman, Emma Grace Chandlee, Sophie Le, and Oaklee Warren; and most beautiful, Erin Lay. The seventh and eighth grade winners were: most photogenic, Ava Smith; prettiest hair, Ava Smith; prettiest eyes, Maggi Wright; overall fashion, Raeleigh Dickerson; audience choice, Ann-Hadli Ezell; beauties, Ava Smith, Ann-Hadli Ezell, Maggi Wright, and Melody Guard; and most beautiful, Raeleigh Dickerson. The high school winners were: best smile, Peyton Dean and Daniya Blaylock; most charming, Samuel Alawine; prettiest hair, Madison Hollingsworth; people’s choice, Jude Alexander and Mckinlee Bankston; best dressed guy, Javonte Moore; prettiest dress, Katelynn Payne; beauties, Julia Harrison, Carsyn Capps, Maggie Peebles, and Maggie Atkinson; Beaus, Jude Alexander, Javonte Moore, Peyton Dean, and Hayden Dolan; most handsome, Samuel Alawine; and most beautiful, Gentry Ward.
