On Saturday, Aug. 19, Vanessa Bond hosted a dual wedding reception for her two brothers and their wives who married recently.
The reception was held in honor of Larry G. Rushing, and Felicia McCune Rushing and Scottie and Gloria Rushing. It was held in Larry and Felicia’s home from 2-4 p.m. I arrived late, after some of the guests had departed, but was greeted by a large crowd of well-wishers.
A long table was spread with hors d’oeuvres, snacks of various sorts, and beautiful and delicious cakes frosted in white with lavender trim. Guests with filled plates mulled about introducing themselves and visiting friends and family. Some sat and visited in small groups of two or three. Everyone had a good time.
Attending the event during the time I was there were Carman Jones, Albert and Linda McCune, Barber and Keith Rushing, Sue and Phil Rushing, Jenifer Remington, Shey Warner, Shawn Goforth, Jimmie and Debbie Rushing, Hope Clark, Greg and Amy Brazzil, Aubrey and Pamela Carron, Gaylon Rushing and Corey Rushing. There were many other guests who had already left before my arrival.
Among those who assisted with the preparations were Pamela Carron and Barber Rushing.
I had expected to report on Country Day this week or next, but I learned from last week’s paper that there will be no Country Day this year, due to the shortage of board members.
