Three former Union students are among those to be recognized during the 2017 Homecoming at East Central Community College in Decatur on Thursday, Oct. 29.

Breland are the Athletic Hall of Fame inductees for this year. A big thanks goes to Elizabeth Breland, who taught in the Business Technology Department at East Central for 29 years, who gave me a heads-up on this information.
Last week the Newton County Appeal published an interview with Pam Hillman on the release of her new historical inspirational novel, “The Promise of Breeze Hill.” I was proud to read that the book is now available. Discussions of that manuscript were a topic at some of our Writers Guild meetings. It is fun to read the summary of her book in the paper, and her comments about it and the world of writing. To have listened as the plot and characters were in the baby stages and know that it has come to fruition makes me feel proud that she is my friend.
I pre-ordered the Kindle version of that book. Now I need to make sure it downloads, so that I can get to meet and enjoy her new “baby.” I can’t wait to read it.
