Welcome to The Little Town with a Big Heart”
God’s Rosebud: A new minister was walking with an older, more seasoned minister in the garden one day. Feeling a bit insecure about what God had for him to do, he was asking the older preacher for some advice.
The older preacher walked up to a rosebush and handed the young preacher a rosebud and told him to open it without tearing off any of the petals. The young preacher looked in disbelief at the older preacher and was trying to figure out what a rosebud could possibly have to do with his wanting to know the will of God for his life and ministry. But, because of his great respect for the older preacher, he proceeded to try to unfold the rose, while keeping every petal intact. It wasn’t long before he realized how impossible this was to do.
Noticing the younger preacher’s inability to unfold the rosebud, without tearing it, the older preacher began to recite the following poem ... It is only a tiny rosebud, a flower of God’s design; but I cannot unfold the petals, with these clumsy hands of mine. The secret of unfolding flowers Is not known to such as I. God opens this flower so easily, but in my hands they die. If I cannot unfold a rosebud,
this flower of God’s design,
then how can I hav
e the wisdom
to unfold this life of mine?
So, I’ll trust in God for leading
each moment of my day. I will look to God for guidance in each step along the way. The path that lies before me, Only my Lord and Sav-ior knows.
I’ll trust God to unfold the moments,
Just as He unfolds the rose.
If you enjoyed being reminded to “let go and let God” unfold your life... please consider sharing this poem with a friend.

Recipe for the week: Spiced Pumpkin Praline Roll
Ingredients: Three eggs, 2/3 cup canned pumpkin (not pumpkin pie mix), ½ box Betty Crocker Super Moist yellow cake mix (about 1 2/3 cups), 1 ½ teaspoons ground cinnamon, 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg, 1/8 teaspoon ground cloves, About 2 tablespoons powdered sugar, 4 ounce (from 8-oz package) cream cheese, softened, ½ cup packed brown sugar, 1 cup whipping cream, ¼ cup chopped pecans, toasted.
Directions: Steps: 1. Heat oven to 375 degrees (350 degrees for dark or nonstick pan). Line 15 x 10 x 1-inch pan with foil or waxed paper; grease or spray foil or waxed paper.
2. In medium bowl, beat eggs with electric mixer on high speed about 2 minutes or until very thick and lemon colored. Beat in pumpkin until well mixed. Gradually beat in dry cake mix, cinnamon, nutmeg and cloves on low speed; continue beating 1 minute. Pour into pan, spreading to corners.
3. Bake 10 to 14 minutes or until cake springs back when touched lightly in center. Immediately loosen cake from edges of pan and turn upside down onto towel generously sprinkled with powdered sugar. Carefully remove foil. While hot, carefully roll cake and towel from narrow end. Cool on cooling rack at least 60 minutes.
4. In medium bowl, beat cream cheese and brown sugar with electric mixer on high speed until smooth. Gradually add whipping cream; beat until stiff. Stir in two tablespoons of the pecans. Unroll cake and remove towel. Spread two-thirds of the cream cheese mixture over cake; roll up. Spread remaining cream cheese mixture over outside of cake. Sprinkle with remaining two tablespoons pecans. Store covered in refrigerator.
