The holiday season shines brighter in Decatur thanks to Hampton and Tammie Gardner, who have transformed their subdivision into a winter wonderland for all to enjoy. The Victorian Gardens Light Show, a festive tradition for over a decade, is back and better than ever, running nightly from Nov. 28 through Jan. 2, 2025, from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m.
The Gardners' began their holiday decorating journey 14 years ago in their backyard, creating a magical space for their children and grandchildren. As the decorations grew, they expanded into their front yard, eventually lighting up the entire Victorian Gardens subdivision with dazzling Christmas displays. Today, the show features commercial-grade decorations and draws visitors from near and far.
When asked why they pour their hearts into this labor of love, the Gardners' are clear: “The main reason for the season is Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior,” they say. “The second reason is for the children. We love hearing their excitement and seeing their smiling faces.”
Catch Santa and Give Back
This year, the Gardners' are introducing a special initiative: “Catch Santa” at Victorian Gardens. The event encourages visitors to make monetary donations, which will be sent to Samaritan’s Purse, a charity led by the Billy Graham Foundation, to help people in need in North Carolina.
“All money collected will go directly to Samaritan’s Purse,” the Gardners explain. “It’s our way of spreading love and joy beyond Mississippi, to help those in need.”

From Newton, turn left at the single red light in Decatur.
From Philadelphia, turn right at the red light.
Continue past the courthouse and East Central Community College. After crossing the train tracks, Victorian Gardens Subdivision will be on your right. Enter through the second entrance to enjoy the light show.
