The American Legion Auxiliary Hickory Unit 173 met on April 7 at the Hickory Baptist Church.
After a delicious supper with our spouses, we had 15 members present and Wendy Walters, the President District V.
We started with the Pledge of Allegiance and our Preamble “For God and Country.” July Henley, Chaplain, then opened the meeting with prayer.
We talked about a quilt raffle which will start soon and the drawing will be held at our December meeting on the 1st. Check out our picture of the beautiful quilt. We talked about getting some shirts with our emblem put on the shirt and one of our members, Angie Stanford, does just that.
Her and Andi Boutwell will look into some patterns and styles of shirts for us and bring them to the next meeting. This is the month the nominating committee begins working for the elections in June.
Linda Massey, Becky Norman, and Minnie Gressett were nominated to the committee and all willing to serve. Copies of the Constitution, By-Laws, and Standing Rules were passed out to the members to vote on in June.
Copies of the internet address to the National Auxiliary Web page were passed out to members that wanted one. The meeting was closed with the President’s charge and Judy closed in prayer.
Our next meeting is at 6 p.m. Thursday, June 2, with a potluck supper. Come join our unit to honor our veterans who protected us with their lives.
