Sebastopolooza Fall Festival
The 2024 Sebastopalooza Fall Festival will be Saturday, Oct. 5, at Bishop Park in Sebastopol. There will be a 5K Run/Walk, Kids Zone, Kids Fun Run, Car Show, Arts & Crafts, Bake Off, Food Booths, Clothesline Art, Mule Pull, and Entertainment. For more information, contact 601-625-7200.
Busy Hand Quilt Guild October Meeting
The Busy Hand Quilt Guild will meet on Oct. 8 in the Fellowship Hall of Decatur’s United Methodist Church. Sit and Sew will begin at 9:30 a.m.; a brief business meeting follows at 11:30 a.m.; and lunch on your own from 12-1 p.m. A member presentation will begin at 1 p.m. on making mini flower art quilts. Interested crafters are invited to drop by at any time and learn more about the Guild and what we do. BHQG meets on the second Tuesday of each month, in the same location. Newton County Chapter of MSU Alumni Meeting
The Newton County Chapter of Mississippi State University Alumni Association will meet on
Tuesday, Oct. 8, beginning at 6 p.m. at the Mabry Cafeteria Gold Room on the campus of ECCC. Come meet other Bulldogs, find out what your Newton County Chapter is doing, and share your ideas on how we can better serve the community. Dinner will be provided by the cafeteria, “Dutch Treat”.

East Central Community College Homecoming Activities
East Central Community College will hold their Homecoming on Thursday, October 10. Activities that day will begin with a Pep Rally on the East Mall at Noon. Reception and Reunions for the Class of 1974, Former EC Faculty and Staff, and Alumni Honorees will take place at Brackeen Wood Gym at 3 p.m. At 3:30 p.m., there will be a Recognition of Alumni Honorees and Reunion Groups at Brackeen Wood Gym. Alumni Association Tailgating will begin at 4:30 p.m. at Bailey Stadium. The football game against Mississippi Gulf Coast will begin at 6:30 p.m.
Newton County Soil and Water Conservation District Wildlife Expo
The Newton County Soil and Water Conversation District will have their Wildlife Expo on October 7 at 6:30 p.m. at the American Legion Hut in Decatur. Beginning at 5:30 p.m., there will be a meal of fish, fries, hushpuppies, coleslaw, a dessert, and drink offered for $15 a plate.
The program will be Wild Turkeys and a speaker from the MS Department of Wildlife, Fisheries and Parks. There will also be door prizes, a silent auction, and a raffle drawing. All proceeds will go to the support of educational conservation projects, youth camp, field days, poster content, and community outreach. The American Legion Hut is located on Highway 15 South in Decatur.
Craft Fair at the McElroy-Hoye House
You are invited to a Craft Fair at the Historic McElroy-Hoye House on Saturday, Oct. 19, from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. Admission is free. There will be crafts, Christmas ornaments, baked goods, jewelry, clothes, and so much more! For more information, contact 601-934-6774. MRHAV hosts Treat Street in Newton
The Mississippi Rural Housing Authority V will host Treat Street at 298 Northside Drive in Newton on Saturday, Oct. 26, from 10 a.m.-3 p.m. There will be food trucks, treats, games, and more! Entrance is free. Tickets are available to purchase for games.
Decatur Treat Street
Bring your family to join in the fun at Decatur Treat Street on Monday, Oct. 28, from 5:30-7 p.m. The fun will begin on Broad Street in Downtown Decatur and continue to ECCC’s Campus. There will be candy, games, activities, and food trucks.
Holiday Decor Donations Requested in Newton
Updating or cleaning out your holiday décor? The Newton Chamber of Commerce and Newton Historical Commission is teaming up to bring something special to our area and are in need of Christmas trees, wreaths, garlands, and lights.
Donations of items may be dropped off at the Newton Chamber Office during business hours of 8 a.m.-3 p.m. (Monday-Friday). We ask that all donations are in good and useable condition, please!
