Newton County Historical and Genealogical Society Monthly Meeting
The Newton County Historical and Genealogical Society will meet on Saturday, January 11, beginning at 10:00 a.m. at the Mississippi Department of Human Services Building, located in Decatur on Highway 15 South, across from the old Dollar General Store. This month's program will be Johnny Reeves of the Newton County Veterans Service Office. Please come and bring a friend. Refreshments will be provided afterwards, so make plans to stay after the program. This is provided there is no inclement weather, we will make a decision on Thursday.

The Newton Municipal School Board Meeting is scheduled for Monday, Jan. 13, at 5:30 p.m.

The Newton County Schools Board Meeting is scheduled for Monday, Jan. 13, at 6 p.m.
Union Public Schools Board Meeting
The Union Public Schools Board Meeting is scheduled for Monday, Jan. 13, at 6 p.m.

Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Holiday Program and Parade in Newton
The Friends of Unity Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Holiday Program and Parade will be held on January 20, beginning with the program at 2 p.m. at Ray Payne Park in Newton. Following the program, all parade participants are asked to line up at 2:45 p.m. on School Street at Newton High School. The Parade will start at 3:30 p.m. No registration is needed.

City of Newton Mayoral and Board of Aldermen Meeting
The next regularly called meeting of the City of Newton Mayor and Board of Aldermen will be on Tuesday, Jan. 21, 2025, beginning at 5:30 p.m. at Newton City Hall.
