Spring 2025 NCYO Baseball & Softball Registration
Registration for the Newton County Youth 2025 Spring Baseball and Softball Season will open on Tuesday, Feb. 4, beginning at 5 p.m. at the Newton County Elementary School gym. Registration fees are $50 for the first child, $40 for each additional child, and a $20 facility fee per family. Uniforms, purchased through our vendor, will be available to try on at registration. Final day to register and order uniforms will be Thursday, Feb. 13. Age requirements: Baseball cutoff is April 30; Softball cutoff is Jan. 1. Coaching volunteers are also needed.
Newton County SWCD Annual Tree Giveaway
The Newton County Soil and Water Conversation District’s Annual Tree Giveaway will be held on Feb. 6, beginning at 10 a.m., at the USDA Office located at 76 Little Rock Decatur Road, Decatur, MS, 39327. Available tree species include White Flowering Dogwood, Eastern Redbud, Persimmon, Sawtooth Oak, Nuttall, and Chinese Chestnut. One bundle will include 2 of each tree. Tree bundles are limited to one bundle per family and must be a resident of Newton County. No Holds. Three-Part Technology Sessions at Newton County Extension Office
The MSU Extension Newton County Office is offering a three-part series about technology for those that want to learn. The sessions will take place at the Newton County Extension Office at 65 7th Street in Decatur from 10 a.m. until noon. The session and dates are the following: Smartphone 101-Feb. 18; Technology After Death-March 18; and Introduction to A.I.-April 15. The cost to attend the sessions is free, but seating is limited.
