Summer Reading Program Events at Newton Public Library
The Newton Public Library will host a Squeegee Art session on Wednesday, June 11, at 3 p.m. as part of the Kemper-Newton Regional Library System “Color Our World” Summer Reading Program. On Friday, June 13, they will host Storytime beginning at 10 a.m.
Sidewalk Chalk at Union Public Library
The Union Public Library will host a Sidewalk Chalk session on Thursday, June 12, at 2 p.m. as part of the Kemper-Newton Regional Library System “Color Our World” Summer Reading Program.

The Decatur Public Library will host a Bookmark session on Thursday, June 12, at 3 p.m. as part of the Kemper-Newton Regional Library System “Color Our World” Summer Reading Program. On Tuesday, June 17, they will host a ‘Potion’ Making session at 3 p.m.
NCHS FFA Farmer’s Market
Come and visit the Newton County High School FFA’s Farmer’s Market for fresh, locally grown produce, artisan good, crafts, baked goods, and a wonderful community atmosphere on Thursday, June 12, from 4-8 p.m. in the parking lot of the Newton County Career and Technical Center, located at 16389 MS-503 in Decatur.
Newton County Farmer’s Market in Downtown Newton
The first Newton County Farmer’s Market for 2025 will be on Saturday, June 14, from 7 a.m. to noon on the grass lot between Third Street and Fourth Street in Downtown Newton. If raining, the Farmer’s Market will take place at the Newton County Show Bar, located at 615 Coliseum Drive in Newton.
Newton County Historical and Genealogical Society Monthly Meeting
The officers have set aside the month of June as "Membership Month" to recruit new members and for members who have not renewed their membership in the Historical & Genealogical Society. We will be serving pulled pork sandwiches on Saturday, June 14, 2025, and we are asking all active members to bring someone with them to renew memberships or to become a new member. Johnny Reeves, Veteran's Service Officer for Newton County, will be our special guest speaker. Meeting will begin at 10:00 A.M. Lunch will be served after the meeting. The meeting will be held at the Newton County DHS meeting room located at 14712 Hwy. 15, Decatur, MS.
City of Newton Mayor and Board of Aldermen Meeting
The next regularly called meeting of the City of Newton Mayoral and Board of Aldermen will be on Tuesday, June 17, beginning at 5:30 p.m. at Newton City Hall.

Auditions for the NTC Adult Musical Production of “Cinderella”
Auditions for the Newton Theatre Company’s adult musical production of Rodgers & Hammerstein’s “Cinderella” are scheduled for Saturday, June 21, at 10 a.m.; Sunday, June 22, at 2 p.m.; and Monday, June 23, at 6 p.m. All auditions will take place at the Roxy Theater in Downtown Newton. Performances are set for Sept. 18, 19, 20, and 21 at The Roxy.
While this is an adult play, there are a limited number of roles for children ages 8-10.

Summer Feeding Program at Newton County High School
The Newton County School District is currently hosting Summer Feeding at the Newton County High School Cafeteria. Students and children 18 and under eat free. Adult lunches are $5.00. Breakfast will be served between 7:30 am-8:30 am Monday-Thursday; Lunches will be served between 10:30 am-12:15 pm Monday-Thursday. The final day for Summer Feeding is set for Thursday, June 26, 2025.

The Newton Municipal School District is currently hosting the Summer Feeding Program at Newton High School Cafeteria. Children 18 and under eat free. Breakfast will be served from 7:30-8:30 a.m. Monday-Thursday; Lunches will be served 10:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. Monday-Thursday. Adult lunches are $3, while adult lunches are $5. Kids Summer Meals Hosted by the Union Public School District
The Union Public School District is currently hosting Kids Summer Meals at four locations: Union High School, Toads and Tutus, UMC Preschool, and Union Square Apartments. Come and join us for a delicious and nutritious hot breakfast and lunch at any of our locations. Open to children 0-18. Child must be present to receive a meal. The final day for Kids Summer Meals is June 26.
Breakfast times are the following: UHS-7:30 to 8:30 a.m./Toads and Tutus-7:30 to 8 a.m./UMC Preschool-7:30 to 8 a.m./Union Square Apartments to 8-8:15 a.m. Lunch Times: UHS-11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m./Toads and Tutus-11 to 11:30 a.m./UMC Preschool-11:30 a.m. to 12 p.m./Union Square Apartment-12 to 12:15 p.m.
