Summer Reading Program Events at Newton Public Library
The Newton Public Library will host a Chihuly Paper Bowls session on Wednesday, June 25, at 3 p.m. as part of the Kemper-Newton Regional Library System “Color Our World” Summer Reading Program. On Friday, June 20, they will host Storytime beginning at 10 a.m., and on Monday, June 30, they will host a Calm Down Jar session at 3 p.m.

Newton County Farmer’s Market in Downtown Newton
The next Newton County Farmer’s Market will be on Saturday, June 28, from 7 a.m. to noon on the grass lot between Third Street and Fourth Street in Downtown Newton. If raining, the Farmer’s Market will take place at the Newton County Show Bar, located at 615 Coliseum Drive in Newton.
City of Newton Mayoral and Board of Aldermen Special Called Meeting
The City of Newton Mayor and Board of Aldermen will hold a special called meeting on Monday, June 30, beginning at 5:30 p.m. at the Newton Depot. The purpose for the special called meeting is to hold a Swearing-In Ceremony for newly elected officials.
City of Union Mayoral and Board of Aldermen Meeting
The next regularly called meeting of the City of Union Mayoral and Board of Aldermen will be on Tuesday, July 1, beginning at 5:30 p.m. at the Union Community Center, located at 110 Park Street in Union.

The next regularly called meeting of the Town of Decatur Mayoral and Board of Aldermen will be on Tuesday, July 1, beginning at 6 p.m. at Decatur City Hall.

Turkey Creek Independence Day Fireworks Show
Turkey Creek Water Park invites you to their annual Independence Day Fireworks Show on July 3. The fireworks start at 9 p.m. and admission is $10 per car. Chair and blankets are encouraged.
You’re invited to beat the crowd and spend the afternoon at the park, where there will be food trucks and the National Guard Kids Zone for the kids. The Good Hope Band, out of Lake, will perform at 7 p.m. Turkey Creek Water Park is located at 142 Parkway Drive in Decatur. For more information, call 601-635-3314.
NCHS FFA Farmer’s Market
Come and visit the Newton County High School FFA’s Farmer’s Market for fresh, locally grown produce, artisan good, crafts, baked goods, and a wonderful community atmosphere on Thursday, July 10, from 4-8 p.m. at the Newton County Career and Technical Center, located at 16389 MS-503 in Decatur.
2025 Union Country Day set for Sept. 13
The Union Chamber of Commerce has announced that Union Country Day will be held on Saturday, Sept. 13, this year. The week of festivities will begin with a Country Gal/Country Boy Pageant on Thursday, Sept. 11. Saturday will begin with a 5K Run and Walk. Vendors will line the streets of Downtown Union. Throughout the day, shoppers will be entertained by talented performers in the mini park. Antique Car lovers will enjoy the car show, while children can play in the Kid’s Zone. New to this year, a Mule Pull will be held at the City Park. Stay tuned for more details. Make your plans now to visit Union Country Day 2025!
