NHS Band Fish Fry Fundraiser
The Newton Band Boosters are sponsoring a Fish Fry Fundraiser on Friday, July 25, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the parking lot of Advance Auto Parts on Hwy 80 in Newton to raise funds in support of the Newton High School Band. Plates are $12 and it includes catfish, coleslaw, baked beans, bread, drink, and dessert. Sandwiches can be purchased for $7.
Newton County Farmer’s Market in Downtown Newton
The Newton County Farmer’s Market will take place on Saturday, July 26, from 7 a.m. to 11 a.m. on the grass lot between Third Street and Fourth Street in Downtown Newton. If raining, the Farmer’s Market will take place at the Newton County Show Bar, located at 615 Coliseum Drive in Newton.
Meet & Greet Celebration for Newton Police Chief McKenzie Patrick
The community is invited to a Meet & Greet Celebration in honor of Chief of Police McKenize Patrick on Tuesday, July 29, from 3:30-5:30 p.m. at the Historic Newton Depot. This is a come and go event and there will be light refreshments served.
“Stuff The Depot” School Supplies and Uniform Drive in Newton
The Newton Chamber of Commerce is hosting their “Stuff the Depot” School Supply and Uniform Drive during the month of July. Donors can drop off their items at the Newton Depot between the hours of 8 a.m.-3 p.m., Monday thru Friday. The Newton Depot is located at 128 South Main Street in Newton.

2025 Union Country Day set for Sept. 13
The Union Chamber of Commerce has announced that Union Country Day will be held on Saturday, Sept. 13, this year. The week of festivities will begin with a Country Gal/Country Boy Pageant on Thursday, Sept. 11. Saturday will begin with a 5K Run and Walk. Vendors will line the streets of Downtown Union. Throughout the day, shoppers will be entertained by talented performers in the mini park. Antique Car lovers will enjoy the car show, while children can play in the Kid’s Zone. New to this year, a Mule Pull will be held at the City Park. Stay tuned for more details. Make your plans now to visit Union Country Day 2025!
