The Newton County High School FFA will host the chapter’s first Alumni Meeting on Thursday, Aug. 21, beginning at 6 p.m. at the Career and Technical Center, located at 16389 Highway 503 in Decatur. Come on out and join us!
Newton County Farmer’s Market in Downtown Newton
The final Newton County Farmer’s Market of 2025 will take place on Saturday, Aug. 23, from 7 a.m. to 11 a.m. on the grass lot between Third Street and Fourth Street in Downtown Newton. If raining, the Farmer’s Market will take place at the Newton County Show Bar, located at 615 Coliseum Drive in Newton.

2025 Union Country Day set for Sept. 13
The Union Chamber of Commerce has announced that Union Country Day will be held on Saturday, Sept. 13, this year. The week of festivities will begin with a Country Gal/Country Boy Pageant on Thursday, Sept. 11. Saturday will begin with a 5K Run and Walk. Vendors will line the streets of Downtown Union. Throughout the day, shoppers will be entertained by talented performers in the mini park. Antique Car lovers will enjoy the car show, while children can play in the Kid’s Zone. New to this year, a Mule Pull will be held at the City Park. Stay tuned for more details. Make your plans now to visit Union Country Day 2025!
Union Country Boys and Country Gals Pageant
Calling all Country Boys and Country Gals ages 0-18! You’re invited to enter the Union Country Boys and Country Gals Pageant, taking place on Thursday, Sept. 11, beginning at 7 p.m. at the Downtown Union Mini Park. Entry fee is $25 for the first child and $10 for each sibling of the first child. Deadline to enter is Sept. 5. Divisions will include Ages 0-2, 3-6, 7-9, 10-12, and 13-18. Entry forms can be picked up and returned at Blaze & Ribbon, located at 204 Bank Street in Union.
Union Country Day 5K/Walk
The 2025 Union Country Day 5K/Walk will take place on Saturday, Sept. 13, beginning at Sessums Park. Registration is from 7-7:45 a.m. and the race starts at 8 a.m. The Early Bird fee is $25, but after Sept. 1 it will be $30. T-shirts guaranteed if registered before Sept. 1. Newton Theatre Company Presents Rodgers & Hammerstein’s Cinderella
Tickets are on sale now for the Newton Theatre Company’s adult musical production of Rodgers & Hammerstein’s Cinderella. Showtimes are at 7 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 18, thru Saturday, Sept. 20, and 2 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 21.
