You are invited to a Christmas Open House at the DeKalb Regional Model Railroad Museum, located at 299 Main Avenue in DeKalb, on Thursday, Dec. 18, from 2-4 p.m.
Christmas Light Show Drive-Thru at Victorian Gardens of Decatur
Hampton and Tammie Gardner invite all to come and enjoy the sights and sounds of the free Christmas Light Show at Victorian Gardens of Decatur. The light show will run through Jan. 2, 2026. Monetary donations will be taken with proceeds going to Catch a Dream Children Christian Ministry Missions.
Toys for Tots Toy Donations
Help bring the joy of Christmas and send a message of hope to an economically disadvantaged child in Newton County by donating to Toys for Tots. If you would like to donate a new or unwrapped toy, please contact Kristie Temple at Afternoon Adventures Learning Centers at 601-934-8978.

Google Classroom Workshop for Homeschool Families
The Newton County Extension Office is hosting a “Getting Started with Google Classroom Workshop for Homeschool Families on Thursday, Jan. 15, from 1-3 p.m. Discover how Google Classroom can make organizing, sharing, and collaborating easier for your home-school group! Whether teaching multiple children at home or working with a larger home-school co-op, this workshop will give you practical strategies to put Google Classroom to work for you! Bring your own device, if possible. Register by Jan. 12.
Kids Coding Workshop
A Kids Coding Workshop is scheduled for Thursday, Jan. 15, from 4:30-5:30 p.m. at the Newton County Extension Office. The workshop is for kids ages 5-7 and will introduce them to Scratch Jr and the exciting world of coding by exploring the basics of programming, giving them a fun and engaging way to build problem-solving skills and creativity. Devices will be available. Please register by Jan. 12.
