Linwood VFD Chitterling Cooking, 4th Annual Show
Linwood Volunteer Fire Department will be hosting a Chitterling Cooking and 4th Annual Car, Truck, Tractor & Bike Show on Saturday, Feb. 25, at the LVFD Station 1 on Road 325. We’ll begin serving boiled or fried chitterlings plates and pulled pork plates at 11 a.m. Registration is from 7-10 a.m. Come out and support your fire department!
Union High School Class of 1973 Reunion
Union High School Class of 1973 will have its 50th Reunion on Saturday, Feb. 25, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. The event will begin with an UHS walkthrough at 11 a.m. Afterward, lunch will be at 1 p.m. at the Community Center.
MLK, Jr/Black History Program hosted by Friends for Unity
Friends for Unity invites you to their MLK, Jr./Black History Month Program on Saturday, Feb. 25, at 5 p.m. at the third New Hope Building on Old Hickory Road in Newton. Event Speaker will be Mr. Ed McGowan of Lawrence. The public is invited.
Newton County Elementary School PreK Registration for 2023-24
Newton County Elementary School PreK Registration for the upcoming 2023-24 school year will begin Monday, Feb. 27, and will continue through Friday, March 3, from the hours of 9 a.m.-2 p.m. Parents and guardians of children who will be four before September 1, 2023 are encouraged to register at the Newton County Elementary Office. Three proofs of residency, along with the child’s certified birth certificate, child’s Social Security card, and a MS Immunization Form 121 are required at the time of registration. Financial Literacy Seminar hosted by BankPlus
BankPlus will hold a Financial Literacy Seminar at the Newton Depot on Feb. 28 from 2-5 p.m. Registration is available at www.BankPlus.net/CreditPlus or call customer service at 1-888-811-7587. Classes are held for the financial education of individuals eighteen years and older. Only those individuals registered will be allowed to enter the training room. Please make arrangements for the care of your dependents at a location other than the training facility. The Newton Depot is located at 128 S. Main Street. Please arrive 15 minutes early.

Newton Theatre Company Youth Production of 67 Cinderellas
The Newton Theatre Company is excited to announce our upcoming youth production of 67 Cinderellas by Stacey Lane and produced by special arrangement from THE DRAMATIC PUBLISHING COMPANY OF Woodstock, Illinois. Performance dates are Friday, March 3rd & Saturday, 4th at 7 p.m., with matinee performances available on Saturday, March 4th & Sunday, March 5th at 2 p.m. Tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for children (ages 12 & under) and are available to purchase online at www.ntcroxy.com or at Designz by Nikki and BankFirst in Newton or at the Farmhouse Grind in Decatur. Spring Fling Special Needs Prom at ECCC
ECCC, in partnership with Leadership Neshoba, will host a Spring Fling Special Needs Prom on Wednesday, March 29, from 5-7 p.m. at the Brackeen-Wood Gymnasium. Any person with a physical, cognitive, or developmental disability between grades 9-12 (approximately ages 15 to 19) and within the service area of ECCC (Neshoba, Scott, Newton, Leake, and Winston Counties) is invited to attend with their buddy (parent/guardian/caregiver). Attendees and their buddies can participate free of charge. Please register to participate by March 10.
