“A Night of Laughter” Fundraiser for Crisis Pregnancy Center
Christian Comedian Leland Klassen will be live at East Philadelphia Baptist Church in Philadelphia on Saturday, March 18, at 6 p.m. Doors will open at 5 p.m. Leland has toured with Mark Lowrey and Chonda Pierce. Special musical guest will be Nashville recording artists The Murphys. It’s a fun night of Christian comedy and music for the whole family.

Newton County Retired Educators Meeting
The Newton County Retired Educators will meet on Thursday, March 23, at 1 p.m. in the Fellowship Hall of Decatur United Methodist Church. The program will be on Human Trafficking. All retired educators and support personnel are invited to attend.
CPR Training offered by MSU Extension Office
The newton County MSU Extension Office will hold a CPR Training event on March 28. There will be two sessions: 8:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. and 1:30-5:30 p.m. Please register by March 22.
The training is free. However, if you would like a certification card, there is a $11 cost. Please call the office at 601-635-7011 for more information or to register by March 22 and let us know which time slot you prefer. Seating is limited
Spring Fling Special Needs Prom at ECCC
ECCC, in partnership with Leadership Neshoba, will host a Spring Fling Special Needs Prom on Wednesday, March 29, from 5-7 p.m. at the Brackeen-Wood Gymnasium. Any person with a physical, cognitive, or developmental disability between grades 9-12 (approximately ages 15 to 19) and within the service area of ECCC (Neshoba, Scott, Newton, Leake, and Winston Counties) is invited to attend with their buddy (parent/guardian/caregiver). Attendees and their buddies can participate free of charge. Please register to participate by March 10.

ECCC Invites Vendors, Public to Business, Education, & Healthcare Expo
East Central Community College will host its annual Business, Education, & Healthcare Expo on Wednesday, March 29 from 9:30 to 11 a.m. in Brackeen-Wood Gymnasium on the Decatur Campus.
The expo, coordinated by the college’s Career & Technical Education division, annually provides career and educational opportunities for ECCC students. The public also is invited to the free event.
Vendors that are interested in setting up a booth at the expo can contact Linda Vance at 601-635-6210 or at lvance@eccc.edu. The deadline to register is Wednesday, March 22 and the cost is $25 per vendor.
2023 Loose Caboose Festival
The Newton Chamber of Commerce is accepting applications for vendors and sponsorships for the 2023 Loose Caboose Festival Arts and Crafts Festival. The 20th Anniversary Celebration is scheduled for April 1, 2023, featuring a weekend of fun for all. The chamber invites all businesses to be present and/or partner with us to showcase our community. Business Booths (No sales) are $60. Regular vendor spaces are $85 apiece with an additional $10 for electricity for $100 for more than one pre-packaged food item. Food vendors are $400 apiece. Deadline is March 10, and a $10 per space increase will take effect after the early deadline. No vendors allowed after March 27. ECCC to Host Student Art Exhibit April 3-20
East Central Community College will host its annual Student Art Exhibition April 3-20 in the Vickers Fine Arts Center on the Decatur campus. An opening reception will be held from 1:30 to 3 p.m. on Thursday, April 6.
The exhibit will feature drawings, paintings, sculptures, and designs produced by EC students during the 2022-23 school year.
Local students whose work will be featured include Katie McElhenney and Hayley Morgan Loper, both of Decatur, and Jia Sanders of Newton.
Newton County Soil and Water Conversation Annual Banquet
Newton County Soil and Water Conservation District will be hosting its Annual Membership Banquet on April 25, 2023, at ECCC cafeteria. This year’s guest speaker will be Mr. Mike McCormick, President of Mississippi Farm Bureau Federation.
If anyone plans to attend the banquet, please contract our office for a membership registration form. Forms need to be turned in by April 3, 2023. The Banquet ticket is considered to be the membership with NCSWCD.
